Hot news alert: April 12th, 2017, is the day Rylan “Reese” Avery Combs’ speaker was the cause of the tragic Northmont Middle School locker fire. When the fire alarms wailed, as usual we assumed it was just a drill. When the fire trucks showed up and the realization that it was not set in, many became concerned. Rumors began to spread. People said that they had seen a locker smoking. It turned out that Miss Combs’s speaker had caught fire. While some were very concerned, some such as Mrs. Lane were grateful for the timing saying, “Thank God it wasn’t yesterday during testing.” What would the student whose speaker caused such panic say? You probably wouldn’t expect her to say, “Honestly, it didn’t bother me at all.” Administration showed concern, but were pleased with the reaction from the student body. Mr. Brumbaugh said, “I’m proud of our staff and students for how quickly and safely they evacuated the building today.” All in all, it was a very interesting day to say the least.
