Recycle, reduce, reuse, and renew. We’ve all heard those words, but what do they really mean? It means to take what was once in use, but no longer is, or not needed, and turning it into something new. Still don’t see the point in recycling, reducing, reusing, and renewing? Well, think about it like this: Earth is one giant human, trash is the bacteria AKA the bad guy. Earth, as all humans do, get sick from that bacteria. We are the doctors, and our job is to help protect Earth from that bacteria. You and everyone around us has the power to help Earth get better. You can start by picking up a tiny piece of paper and recycling it. Then, pick up any leftover trash that others leave. You can make a huge difference in the world around us by recycling, reducing trash, reusing things, and renewing items.

You can start a new chapter in recycling, reducing, reusing, and renewing items by: creating something out of the old. You can do this by taking old school projects that you don’t want or need any more, and turn them into a masterpiece of artwork to display. You could take that old Tri-fold from third grade you never ended up using, to create a timeline with pictures of you growing up into what you are now. With that comes tools and supplies! You could use that posterboard from a poster from last year that you didn’t know what to do with, and turn it into a backdrop for fun homemade videos you recreated from when you were a child. (Using some scrapbook, glue it to the poster board.) You make a pencil holder by taking an old water bottle, and peeling the label, cutting the desired height of the water bottle, (Cap side recycle.) and lastly, decorate it!

Want to up your NMS spirit? Well, you came to the right article! Take a piece of cardboard, paperboard, or card stock, and measure that length you want the school Pom Pom to be. Cut NMS colored yarn, and wrap it around the board. Next, slide it off the board. Gather the loops of yarn then, take a separate piece off yarn and tie them all together in the middle. Cut the loops into separate pieces of string. Now separate the strands of string. Now you should have a NMS themed Pom Pom! Add on to the fun by using a hot glue gun, to glue your NMS themed Pom Pom to a headband, add hooks and loops for a keychain, and be just overall creative with it!
