International Woman’s Day Thoughts

International Women’s Day, 3-7-2019, is the day that celebrates women’s actions that have not been acknowledged or covered up by men who steal their shine! Women have gone through a lot to get to where they are now. From protests and boycotts to disobeying and defying taken to the extreme, we’ve seen it all throughout history.

People like Marie Curie have changed the way we see radioactivity. Beyoncé has changed the way people see music. Queen Victoria has changed people’s perspectives by showing them that women can rule the world and take actions like men. Serena and Venus Williams have impacted the sport industry by showing people who’s boss. Anne Frank had made a huge impact on how people see the Holocaust and wars from a victim of war’s point of view. Oprah Winfrey gave  insight to the world by being the first woman to have her own talk show discussing important modern day issues. Princess Diana of Wales gave to the poor, J.K.Rowling wrote books that have changed the nerd industry, and Hillary Clinton was the first women to be the official candidate for president in the 2016 elections. Malala Yousafzai left a mark in the world and stayed strong while the Taliban’s threats on her tail.

All these women have left their mark on the world trying to bring equality and feminism to the world. Women have traditionally been taught by their mothers to be attractive, find a mate, give birth, do the housework, clean, and take care of the family. While all of this is happening they also have struggled with sexist remarks in their everyday lives. Women couldn’t even have a say in who leads their country! Now things are changing, however it’s not perfect. Women are still being held back for their gender! It’s not their faults they were born a strong, independent, kind, honest woman.
