Thunder Bots Going to State

This past weekend, the Thunder-Bolts Robotics team, along with 35 other teams, competed at Wright State University FLL District tournament. The students did an outstanding  job at the event. The Thunder-Bolts earned the Grand Champion Runner-Up award. This award recognizes a team that embodies the FIRST LEGO League experience, by fully embracing our Core Values while achieving excellence and innovation in both the Robot Game and Project. In addition to this top honor, The Thunder-Bots also logged 450 and 440 points in the robot game during their two practice rounds which would have topped the highest scores in all of Ohio. During the official robo rounds they obtained a score of 415 which earned them a 3rd place Robot Performance Award. In addition to these awards, the team was also selected to advance to the Ohio State Championship. Being selected to compete at the Ohio State Championship is a tremendous honor. They will compete against the top 60 teams from the entire state of Ohio. The state tournament will be held on Feb 1st and 2nd, at the Wright State University Nutter Center. This is a very prestigious accomplishment, that all of these students worked very hard for. What is most remarkable is that this will be the team’s 4th straight year in beings selected to advance to Ohio State Championship. If you see any of the team members please congratulate them on their impressive achievement. There are 7 people on the Thunderbolts team, 5 in the district and 2 out of the district. They are Owen Franks, Jacob Hobbs, Ryan Fitzgerald, Carson Stone, and Kelsey. The members out of the district are Jackson Cooper and Ben Cope.
