Academic Challenge Going to Nationals


This weekend, the Northmont Middle School Academic Challenge Team finished second in a very competitive field at the Solon Middle School Winter Clash tournament. The team posted a record of 6-2 losing only to tournament champions Solon A. Eighth grader Ethan Kral was the highest scoring player with over 100 points per game. The team of Ethan Kral, Kevin Adler, Lilia Lopez, and Ellery Torrence’s performance also qualified Northmont for the Middle School National Championship Tournament which will be held remotely during the first weekend in May. 


Academic Challenge is a team-based Jeopardy!-style competition. Students compete to answer questions in a variety of subjects including history, science, literature, fine arts, and pop culture against other teams from around the country. Practices are held each Wednesday remotely from 3:00-4:30. All interested middle schoolers are encouraged to attend a practice.
