Eighth Grade Night

Eighth+Grade+Night

Last Friday, Sept 24, all 8th-grade band members got to play alongside the high school band during a varsity game. The band played Kings and Queens by Ava Max, Northmont’s fight song, and I’m a Jayhawk, during halftime. Eighth graders joined the high school band in the stands behind the goalpost up until the third quarter, where they were allowed to hang out with friends and buy concessions. It’s also worth noting that the low brass section got Mt. Dew and a slice of bread per tradition. A majority of the time the band just hung around, making jokes and having fun. (With the help of some of my fellow trombonists, my trombone’s name was Girlboss, but now it’s Girlbrass.)

The band also stayed after the game to watch an amazing competition performance by Northmont’s very own High School Marching Band and Color Guard. Here’s what some band members have to say about the night:

 “Haha yeah” – Sophia Jones

 “Bread” – Kiera Bingham

“Never chug Mtn Dew after 6, or just don’t chug Mtn Dew.” -Sololee Stamper

 “Pizza.” – Ethan George
