School Shooting Threat

School+Shooting+Threat

Thursday, October 14, 2021, the Clayton Police received a phone call from the Northmont High School reporting a school shooting threat. All of the campuses (high school and middle school) were put into lockdown. Students were sitting in complete darkness for a little less than an hour. After almost an hour, the lockdown was lifted and a shelter-in-place was put in place. Students were also allowed to use the bathroom after the lockdown was lifted. Exploration teachers came up and collected classes for lunch. They took the kids downstairs and went through lunch at about 1:15. Teachers could eat somewhere else and the exploration teacher in charge would sit with them for 30 minutes. Students stayed in 5th period for the rest of the day. In the end, no weapons were involved and the student that started the panic was taken into custody.
