Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in ROTC? Well I’m here to tell you! ROTC is a school program based on the military. Our program isn’t just push ups and people yelling, it’s also making new friends, traveling to new places, and discovering things that not everybody would be able to! On Saturday October 16th, Northmont IDR had their first drill meet at Highland High School. We had to be at our highschool at 4:00 AM! We traveled 2 and a half hours away to compete. We ended up winning 5 trophies and some knockout metals! Our NS1 Armed placed 2nd place, our high school color guard won 1st place! Our school ended up placing 2nd overall. If you are an 8th grader and interested in joining, find one of our fellow cadets and talk to them. We have multiple cadets around the middle school that would love to recruit you. And if you are a 7th grader and want to join next year, start talking to someone. If you thought ROTC was strict and boring, think again. It’s actually really fun and there are times to be serious, but it’s always a good time!
